Youth's Program

The Black Forest Community Church is blessed to have a great group of young men and women that are involved in our church. Our goals for our youth are:

F To have fellowship with one another
A To assist in the ministry of the church and mission projects
I To invite our youth to care for one another
T To trust in Jesus Christ our Savior and grow in our Faith journey
H To honor God in worship

We offer many activities that foster Christian fellowship and allow the youth to explore and firm their Christian faith:

Sunday School
Middle School classes (7th & 8th grade) continue to use a curriculum that offers Bible story lessons, crafts/games, and discussion.
High School classes (9th - 12th grade) are a free-form discussion and interaction on various topics.

Youth Group Meetings (Family Night included)
The Middle School Youth Group (7th & 8th grade) meet the first Wednesday of the month, during Family Night.
The High School Youth Group (9th - 12th grade) meet the first Wednesday of the month, during Family Night, and the third Wednesday of the month.

Mission Trip
Each summer for one week, the high school youth come together for a mission trip to help others that are in need. This event has proven to be an incredible, faith-affirming experience for our youth. The 2010 Mission Trip will take place July 18-26 at the Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Fundraisers
The youth groups work hard throughout the year to raise money to go on the summer Mission Trip, defray the costs of trips to La Puente (in the San Luis Valley), and for other fun activities. Our fundraiser activities include:

  • Refreshments for donations on the fourth Sunday of every month during the fellowship time after worship service.
  • Car washes in our parking lot.
  • Concessions at the Black Forest Festival (cotton candy & snow cones).
  • Labor for "Working for the Community", where the youth work for hourly rates cleaning out barns, raking leaves, cleaning  houses, babysitting, etc.
  • Pancake breakfasts
  • Concessions at the Slash/Mulch Kickoff

Other Activities
We offer various day and weekend activities throughout the year, including:

  • Day trips to Elitch Gardens and Water World.
  • A weekend at La Puente, a homeless shelter in the San Luis Valley. Typically, the youth are involved in serving meals, "gleaning" the vegetable fields for produce the pickers missed, and other activities to help this shelter.
  • Youth Worship Services, where the youth lead the entire service.
  • Christmas Caroling.
  • Halloween at La Foret, where the youth can participate in decorating the BFCC cabin and hand out candy to the younger children.
  • Ski Trip (not exclusive to the youth).
  • Easter Egg Hunt preparations, including filling and hiding the Easter Eggs.
