Reverend Dr. Shelly Wilson
The Rev. Dr. Shelly Wilson currently serves as the pastor of Black Forest Community Church, United Church of Christ. She has been a pastor for forty years, having previously served churches in Florida and North Carolina. Shelly is mom to Julianna and partner to Diane, and profoundly blessed by both, as well as by a wonderful extended family.
Shelly completed a Master of Religious Education at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, a Master of Theology at Duke Divinity School with a focus on homiletics (preaching), and a Doctor of Ministry at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC with a concentration in spiritual formation. She also has a degree in Nursing and is a Registered Nurse with a particular interest in geriatric and faith-based nursing.
Shelly believes in and practices collaborative leadership and loves working with the congregation to serve the community in just and inclusive ways.
Lay Ministerial ASsociate Levi Murray, MTH
Levi grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has lived in Colorado since 2007. He graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry and practices community health dentistry in Pueblo, CO.
He has an amazing partner, Barbara, and four super cool kids. In his spare time, he earned a Master’s Degree in Theology and loves talking about Open and Relational Theologies.
He believes that if we can become fully present to ourselves and decolonize our minds, then we can become fully present to others and start to bring equity in our communities.
Stephanie Font, Church Admin
Stephanie grew up in Colorado Springs and moved to Denver after high school. She moved to Black Forest in 2016 with her partner and twin sons. The church has given her a sense of community. Stephanie also serves as the church’s Youth Director.
Hope Schmitz, Pianist, Accompanist
Hope Schmitz was raised in Petoskey, MI, and moved out to Colorado in early 2017. She has loved music from an early age, fell in love with the piano, and also loves to sing. She graduated with her Associate's Degree in Music from Pikes Peak Community College in 2022 and her Bachelor's Degree in Music from UCCS in 2024. After graduating from Pikes Peak, she started her own business and teaching piano through Hope Gabrielle Piano Studio. She recently got married in September of 2025 and enjoys spending time with her husband playing video games and going on hikes or disc golfing.
Hope also teaches piano lessons!
