The Art of storytelling

In the penultimate episode of Season 4, Marta and Mandy chat with Leslie Sheley, member of Black Forest Community Church, and creator of the Instagram page ilovebarbies31. Leslie shares with us the lives of her Barbie friends who do wildly creative and deeply important work in their world.

Leslie grew up on a farm in North Dakota and thought she would be a farmer’s wife but ended up marrying her brother’s friend and roommate, Stan, from the AF Academy. They have one son who lives in Pueblo and is the next best thing to... well to nothing; he’s the best! After 35 years of living all over the country, Stan retired in 2020 and fortunately they have been able to stay in COS. Leslie is thrilled to be the Ministry Coordinator for BFCC. She is grateful for her church family since her brothers and their families all live in other states; can you tell that family is everything to her! She also writes for The New Falcon Herald paper.

Some things we mentioned in this episode:

Bishop Michael Curry’s book Love is the Way

Priya Parker’s book The Art of Gathering

Roger Butt’s book Seeds of Devotion
